Contaminated Land Search

Privacy Policy

How information is handled when you search an address, purchase a report, or contact us, and the choices available to you.

Effective date: October 30, 2026

1. Scope and contact

This Privacy Policy explains how Contaminated Land Search handles information in connection with this website, address searches, purchases, and paid reports. It does not govern Square, government websites, mapping providers, or other third-party sites you visit separately.

For privacy questions or requests, contact connect@contaminatedlandsearch.com. Please do not include full payment-card numbers, card security codes, or unnecessary sensitive information in your message.

2. Information processed

The service processes information you provide and information needed to carry out searches and purchases:

  • Form information: your first name, email address, and the property address you search. We do not ask for a phone number in the site’s search or purchase forms.
  • Search information: partially typed address queries, selected addresses, standardized address information, and lookup results.
  • Order information: the name, email, and address submitted for purchase; the payment amount; Square order, payment-link, and payment identifiers; payment status; timestamps; and generated report information.
  • Browser information: a randomly generated visitor identifier and temporary purchase details stored in your browser. Hosting and service providers may also process IP addresses, request information, browser information, and diagnostic records in operating the service.
  • Correspondence: information you choose to send when contacting us about privacy, an order, or a problem.

3. How information is used

Information is used to operate and support the service, including:

  • Suggesting and matching addresses, running the free area lookup, and generating the report for the property selected.
  • Carrying purchase details through the search flow, creating Square checkout, and verifying payment before releasing a report.
  • Maintaining order and report records, restoring access where possible, handling inquiries, and investigating delivery or payment issues.
  • Operating, securing, and diagnosing the website; detecting abuse; and complying with applicable legal and recordkeeping obligations.

4. Square and payment information

Payments take place on Square’s hosted checkout page. The email submitted on our site may be sent to Square to pre-fill its checkout. Square receives payment information you provide there and handles it according to its own privacy policy and terms.

Our website does not collect your full payment-card number or card security code. We retrieve payment status, amount, and transaction identifiers to verify the purchase. Square may process other buyer information as part of its checkout; this policy does not describe or control Square’s independent processing.

5. Service providers and sharing

Information is transmitted to providers needed to deliver the service. Partially typed address searches are sent to Photon/Komoot for suggestions, and submitted addresses may be sent to the US Census Geocoder for standardization. The environmental lookup provider receives the searched address and, for free lookups, a visitor identifier; paid report requests also use an order reference.

Lovable Cloud and the hosting infrastructure support order and report storage and website operation. Square handles checkout and payment verification. Google Fonts receives ordinary browser requests when the site loads its font. Report maps may request third-party map tiles, which can disclose technical request information and the map area being viewed to the map provider.

Providers may process technical information, diagnostics, and logs under their own applicable practices. We may also disclose information when legally required, to respond to lawful requests, to protect rights and safety, or as reasonably necessary to investigate fraud or abuse. If ownership of the service changes, information may be transferred subject to applicable legal protections.

This policy does not grant permission to use your submitted name or email for unrelated advertising. The current site forms do not include a separate marketing subscription. We do not offer a personal-information sale through the website; legal definitions of sale or sharing may vary, and requests concerning your rights can be directed to us.

6. Browser storage, cookies, and URLs

The purchase flow stores your first name and email in sessionStorage so they can accompany your purchase without being placed in the result URL. Session storage is generally tied to the browser tab and may remain available if your browser restores that session. A random visitor identifier is stored in localStorage and can remain until you clear it.

The property address appears in the result page’s URL. It can therefore appear in browser history, copied links, or relevant technical logs. Paid report links contain an order identifier and a private access token. Treat the full link as confidential; anyone you share it with may gain report access.

You can clear or block browser storage through your browser settings, but doing so may interrupt checkout or require you to re-enter details. The application’s purchase flow uses browser storage rather than an advertising-cookie feature. Hosting, embedded resources, and third-party pages may use cookies or other technologies under their own policies; this policy is not a promise that no provider sets cookies.

7. Retention

Order and report information is retained as reasonably needed to provide access and support, maintain transaction records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations. There is no fixed deletion schedule promised by this policy. Retention can vary by information type, legal requirements, and the systems that hold it.

Browser-stored information persists according to your browser’s session and storage behavior and can be cleared by you. Providers may retain their own transaction records, logs, and backups under their policies. Deletion requests may be limited by legal recordkeeping requirements and necessary transaction records.

8. Safeguards and your role

The application validates submitted information, verifies payment on the server, restricts ordinary visitor access to order records, and checks a private report token before returning a paid report. These safeguards reduce unauthorized access but cannot eliminate every security risk.

No transmission or storage method is guaranteed to be completely secure. Avoid using shared devices for purchases, do not post private report links publicly, and protect downloaded reports. If you believe your report link or information has been accessed without permission, contact us.

9. Your choices and privacy requests

Depending on where you live and whether a particular privacy law applies, you may have rights to request access to personal information, correction, deletion, a copy of information, or restrictions on certain processing. Some laws also provide opt-out, objection, appeal, or authorized-agent rights. These rights are subject to applicable exceptions and do not all apply to every service or person.

Send requests to connect@contaminatedlandsearch.com. Describe the request and provide enough information to locate the relevant order, such as the purchase email and order reference if available. We may need to verify identity or authority before releasing information or making changes, and will respond as required by applicable law. Do not send identity documents unless specifically requested through an appropriate process.

You may decline to provide information, but required purchase information is necessary to complete the transaction. Clearing browser data does not delete an order already stored by the service. You may have a right to complain to your local privacy regulator where applicable.

10. Location and international processing

The service is designed for United States property-address searches. Providers may process or store information in the United States or other countries where they operate, and those countries may have different privacy rules. Where applicable law requires protections for a transfer, those requirements continue to apply.

11. Children’s information

The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. Children should not submit personal information or make purchases. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it as required by law.

12. Policy updates

We may revise this policy as the service or applicable requirements change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Where required by law, material changes will be communicated through an appropriate notice or consent process. Contact connect@contaminatedlandsearch.com if you have questions about a change or how your information is handled.
